In this student-led module, students opt to either work one their own, or in a group to create an original short film with guidance from the module tutor. The student will be responsible for all aspects of the filming and will be able to call upon the student actors to take part in their project.

Theatre Tour Project
(30 CREDITS)

In this student-led module, students will work towards creating a touring schedule and plan for either a single show or a series of productions. They will focus on the preparation for and the execution of a tour. In preparing for a tour, the student will have to research and choose appropriate venues, prepare a technical rider and touring pack, design a marketing campaign for each location, and present a budget for expenditure against possible profit. They will also have to plan all the logistics of the tour itself, including travel, insurance, accommodation, contracts, show report templates, risk assessments, get-in and get-out, any rehearsal time arrangements, and all other on-site management issues. Finally, the tour plan should include a plan for a potential overseas tour, which should include a schedule, budget and any VISA regulations.

In this student-led module, students will work independently or as part of a team to set up a new theatre company. This will involve defining the structure and roles within the company, writing the manifesto, aims, and long-term goals, submitting the legal and financial paperwork, producing a marketing campaign, and programming a season of shows at venues of their choice.

Work Placement Project
(30 CREDITS)

This module runs over 10 weeks, and can wither run the length of the Autumn or Summer Term, or be separated into smaller blocks of work. The student will be responsible for securing their own placement, with approval needed from the Head of Course. The type of placement will vary according to student interest but it may fall under the following headings: - Theatre Management - Company Management - Film Production - Media - Stage Management - Dramaturgy or Research Assistant - Assistant Director (film or theatre) - Arts Administration

In this student-led module, students will work independently to create the designs for a theatre production. The design elements will include costume, set, and lights. Firstly, the student will outline the directorial vision of the project, working from a text of their choosing. Alternatively, the student may choose to work with a director, who will provide the vision and criteria that the student must work towards. Whichever path they chose, they will then have to create a design that fits the vision for the production, for a specified venue or a proposed tour.

Producing and Managing 3
(30 CREDITS)

This module provides practical experience of project management, producing and event design. Students will work in pairs or as part of a group to produce a small arts festival or series of events as agreed with the module convenor. Students will have to demonstrate an ability to secure a venue, programme an event, produce a marketing outline and manage a final project. Indicative projects could take the form of a live event, a series of events, a festival of filmed work, or a digital festival that happens in cyberspace. Students may take on different aspects of the producing role within the same project, or across a number of projects, throughout the module. Additionally, students will undertake the role of a producer (either as an individual or in pairs) working on either a film or theatre collaboration with another course; the specifics of the project to which the producing student is seconded will be determined by the tutor/Head of Course.
